Svartifoss is located in Skaftarfell which is part of  Vatnajökull National Park in the South East of Iceland. It is fed by melt water from the glacier Svínafellsjökull. It is 20 meters high (65 feet) and is bordered on both sides by black, basalt columns. From the Visitor Center by the camping site in Skaftafell, there is a hiking trail uphill to Svartifoss which is about 1.5 km long. One can expect it to be about a  90 min trip both ways to visit the waterfall.
