Hellissandur og Rif
Hellissandur and Rif are two villages about 2 km apart (GPS 64°54’56.42″N 23°52’33.97″W),located on the western area of the Snæfellsnes peninsula. The population of Hellisandi is 380 and of Rif is 160. The distance from Reykjavík is 204 km ( 126 miles ) . There is a daily scheduled bus service from Reykjavik to Hellisandur and Rif.

Services and leisure
Services and leisure activities include a grocery store, the Maritime museum at Hellissandur, where the boat Bliki is located. Bliki is the oldest fishing rowboat in Iceland, built in 1826. There is also a replica of a fishermen´s turf house. Also by the museum, there are lifting stones used to test the strength of men, go ahead and test your strength the Icelandic way! To note also is that between Hellissandur and Rif are the largest arctic tern nesting areas in Iceland, this area often called the bird watchers paradise.
