Garður (GPS 64° 3’45.99″N 22°38’6.43″W) is located in south west Iceland, on the Reykjanes peninsula. It has a population of 1400 people. The distance from Reykjavík is 56 km ( 34 miles ) . There is a daily scheduled bus from Reykjavík to Garður.

Sólseturshátíðin This festival also known as the sunset festival, takes place during the Summer Solstice. There are good facilities for camping and caravan parking. If weather permits, watching the sunset on the longest day of the year is quite a sight. The program over the weekend includes guided tours at the seashore, museums, bonfire and a volleyball competition to name a few.
