Highlights from the Place

Bíldudalur is located at the Westfjords (GPS N65° 41′ 8.19″ W23° 35′ 56.60″). It is situated on the south side of the fjord Arnarfjörður which is the second largest fjord in the Westfjords. Bildudalur is the only village located there. Approximate distance from Reykjavík by road is 420 km ( 260 miles ) and about a 5 hours drive.

Services and Leisure

Services at Bildudalur include a grocery store, restaurant, 9 holes golf course. There is a swimming pool with geothermal water about 15 km away in the fjord Reykjafjörður where the hot water comes from a hotspring nearby.

The fjord Arnafjordur is home to many legends of Icelandic sea monsters. Do visit the Icelandic sea monsters museum Skrimslasetur

Annual festival


The third weekend in July every second year, the music festival “Baunagrasið” takes place in Bíldudal. The next one will be in the year 2020. Musicians from all over Iceland meet with live performances and music related happenings over the whole weekend.
